Ben's Haircut

Tonight Dad gave Ben a haircut to get ready for TT and Jesse's wedding. It took over an hour, but it looks great and Ben sat very still. After his haircut, Dad was putting him in the shower and Ben said, "I want to have a bath!" Dad told him that he needed to take a shower because it was faster and Ben responded, "I need to take a bath because Mom's going to take a shower." "She is?" "Yeah, it's been a really long day for her." I wonder how he knew???
Since he did such a good job on his haircut, he got an ice cream treat afterwards.

One more quote...

I forgot this one:
The whole family was going somewhere in the Camry. It's a little cramped in the back seat with 3 car seats, and poor Ben is in the middle. Heidi was crying about something and then Kate started her "I'm hungry and getting mad" cry. I looked back and Ben had his hands over his ears and he asked, "Does anyone have some Tylenol?"

Some of Ben's Recent Quotes (Rated PG)

A few of Ben's fun quotes that made us laugh, caution some are rated PG:

On the way home from John's softball game:
Mom- "Ben, check out the moon"
Ben- "Wow! It's full......I wonder what he ate!" "Why can't I see his mouth?"

Getting ready for school:
Ben got out 2 Q-tips and started cleaning his ears. Of course I freaked out that he was going to damage his eardrums so I helped him. I said, "Ben, your ears are really clean, there's hardly any wax." He responds, "That's cause I wax them all the time!"

Ben's song he made up in the bathtub:
"Head and shoulders, knees and penis (pronounced penus)"- Oh boys!

"Heidi, I'm going to kick you in your nut!"

"Heidi, knock it out!" I think he meant "Knock it off!" (it made me chuckle in the car because he was so serious)

On the way home from Wed. night church:
Mom- "Ben, did you sing tonight?"
Ben- "Nope, but the radio did!"

Hanging out with Grandpa Sherman while dad & mom went to dinner:
Ben- "Grandpa, can I have a knife?"
Gpa- "Ben, I don't think your dad & mom let you have knives."
Ben- "Yes, they do." (We actually don't)
Gpa- "Well Ben, you need to have more experience before you use sharp knives."
Ben- "I got experience with that last week."

Mom & Ben's Date Night at Veggie Tales

As our kids grow up we think it is important to do special things with each of them 1 on 1. Ben, being the oldest and only boy, gets to do lots of activities with dad. I was thinking that Ben and I hadn't done anything together without his sisters in a long time when we heard about the Veggies Tales concert. They talked about it at school and Ben really wanted to go. He listens to the Veggie Tales CD in his room pretty much every day and knows all the songs. So I ordered tickets, and Ben could not wait. He must have asked me every day for a week how much longer until the concert. He also wondered how the Veggies were going to get here if they don't have legs! When it was finally Friday, he asked me several times, "Do you think they're on the airplane right now?" We met up with his friends Sam, Jake and Zachary from school and their moms and had a picnic before the show. Then we had fun watching the Veggies show. Ben was in awe of how big they were! At intermission they talked about adopting kids through World Vision and Ben wanted to help one- he also was happy to get the toy for signing up. Afterwards, we went to the table and he carefully selected a boy named Luis F. We spent the ride home discussing why Luis needs our help and then spent today picking out just the right quarters from his piggy bank to send to Luis so he could get some food. Tonight when he went to bed he reminded me that we need to send Luis his money because he might be really hungry. Anyways, we had a great time together, and it was neat to spend time with just Ben and focus on his questions and conversation.

Princess Heidi

Heidi's princess outfit of the day- her garage sale dress, her crown and jewels, Tinkerbell socks and her shoes for TT's wedding!

Kate's 1st solid food

Kate has been waking up around 4:30 every morning to eat so I thought I would try giving her some solid food. I learned that the bath tub is a good place to try spoon feeding because cleanup is very easy. I mixed up some rice cereal for her, and she ate a little bit, but was not crazy about it. We've tried it a couple of other times and she is starting to get the hang of it, but mostly just lets it fall out of her mouth. I don't think she actually eats enough to help fill her up because she still wakes up to eat- I think she just likes to come snuggle in bed with dad & mom!
